63 spare tire carrier bolts and lock

I have the correct set of spare tire bolts for the second version (up to vin 6700) and it appears the steel lock bracket and lock bracket nut are raw steel. Can anyone confirm what the coating should be on these two parts, cad, bare steel, paint, etc? I am ready to send the bolts out for cad plating and would like to send these also, if they are cad plated too.

Also, I can't find any big box retailer that sells the correct "early" lock, with no drain hole and rubber pad. Does anyone know where I might find one? David Sokolowski didn't even have one...

The rubber pad was available from LIC, ZIP may have them now as they acquired LIC's Inventory. I do not believe anyone reproduces the lock with no hole. They are rare and expensive.

The parts in the picture are cad, except the bracket & washer. They is painted gloss black. The barrel nut is held on with a solid steel round plug. I'll post some pictures later today.

In later midyears if the car came with knockoffs those bolts were longer.
Story that I can safely tell now as the people involved are long gone.
I bought a new '66 BB with knock offs. Said so on the window sticker and the car had four of them. All four on the ground
Need I say more friends. You figure it out.
When I went over a bump there was a rather large rattle coming from the rear end. No one could figure out why. I didn't know the answer until I joined NCRS that the spare tire was a knock off also. I had a steel rim for KO.

Lol, thanks for the history lesson John. Thankfully I don't have to deal with knock offs on this car.

Try jim bensko <jmbensko@q.com> for the correct lock; he sold me a nice lock with the boot for my split window but its been several years back. He had several sets at the time.
