You may not get your New C8 Corvette after all

WHO ELSE HAD LABOR UNREST AT BGAP FOR THINGS TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN 2022? Members of the UAW local 2614 in Bowling Green have overwhelmingly rejected a local labor contract and membership has

authorized a strike if demands aren't met.

After all the ups and downs of prior production, glad I have mine. The most incredible car I've ever owned.

It's similar to 2020 when I was waiting for my C8. First the strike then the Covid delays. When my car was being built it was actually stuck on the assembly line partially done. 2 month delay after waiting 2 years from when I put down my deposit.
Hopefully they can resolve their differences and the strike never happens. Don't want any interruptions as they get closer to Z06 production.

As one who waited for over a year to get my 2021, and sweated as it was scheduled for build in a month where they only operated 1 week due to various parts shortages, I can understand how disheartening this is. But realize this is a great car, the best overall Corvette I have ever owned (in spite of the old '50s DeSoto style push button shifter) and you will be very happy when it arrives. Hang in there!

When the Bowling Green workers see new Vettes selling at way over MSRP they also want a piece of the pie. It may still be a few years but this too will pass

The workers at BG do a great job building the cars and they deserve the credit for it. However, C8 production volume(with the parts shortages, etc) is far below the C7 production volume which should be a concern for BG workers. I wonder what the level the production BG needs to be at to meet profit goals. The high pricing in the market by dealers everyone is seeing is strictly a supply issue. At the same time, BG may not be operating at a desirable production/profit level. Here are some production numbers for consider --- C7 production: 2014 - 37,288; 2015 - 34,240; 2016 - 40,689; 2017 - 32,782; 2018 - 9,686; and 2019 34,822. C8 production: 2020 - 20,368; 2021 - 26,212; 2022 ? What's happening with Corvette production is pretty much a reflection of what is happening with other car companies. But, like Bob Brewer says - this too will pass!

Also, I wonder if the price for the C8 has also increased to the dealers. Whatever the price to the consumer is, unless it's reflected in what GM can charge a dealer, then it shouldn't have any affect on what the workers get paid to build them.
