Re: glue for weather stripping and carpets
I can't recommend weather stripping adhesive but I used DAP Wellwood contact cement - the original liquid stuff in a quart can - available at Lowes and other hardware stores. I used it to install carpets in my 64. Works great - no mess..... sort of.... not nearly as bad as some sprays - you will need some throw away rubber gloves, and a few 1 to 1.5 inch cheap paint brushes. If you are doing a carpet with a backing the contact cement is not forgiving - apply to both surfaces - wait a few minutes then press the carpet down -- it STICKS -- if you have to move it or pull it up it will take the backing off the carpet. There is a reason they call it "contact cement".Ed- Top

Re: glue for weather stripping and carpets
Regarding the installation of carpet - I also highly recommend getting a roll of 2 inch wide double backed carpet tape. When you are "positioning" the various pieces of carpet you dry position it first - when you have it where you want it you hold it in place with one hand, then peel or roll back about half of it to the half way point with the other hand -- then with your third hand you apply a few pieces of the tape to the fiberglass close to the carpet - then without moving the carpet around from where you want it - roll the carpet back over the tape and press down. The tape will hold the carpet where you want it - now you can roll back half the carpet and apply contact cement to the fiberglass and the carpet back - wait a few minutes and then slowly roll the carpet back down to make contact with the fiberglass. One side done --- do the other half. Works great.Ed- Top
