Rookie NCRS Guy Looking for Advice on 1966 Alternator

My plan is to have my newly-acquired ’66 Vette flight judged at the upcoming Greenville Regional. L79 engine. While it looks correct and is a Delco, my current alternator is not numbered or dated. Would a non-numbered / non-dated (casting and diodes) alternator earn any originality points? Any advice would be appreciated!

Jeff,
welcome to the club, and the TDB.
If your alternator looks correct, and is a Delco, it will score some originality points, losing only 40% of the total value for Configuration and Date, using the CDCIF evaluation system. The alternator is valued at 15 Orig points, so it should take a 6 point deduction. And then should score all Condition points baring any cosmetic issues.

Good afternoon all.

Jeff and I are here today working on his beautiful '66 coupe. Some added details we've uncovered cause me to post this information and add a couple questions:

We notice that despite earlier thinking, his alternator may NOT be a DELCO unit. Where the JG shows DELCO REMY embossed in the casting, his does not. Does this mean that this alt is not an actual DELCO unit?

We found what looks to be a nice, TFP alternator on line and Jeff is interested in it. I would like to point out what is perhaps/perhaps not a discrepancy between the available unit and what the JG says we should expect to see, particularly the ink markings on the diodes.

Where the JG suggests POSITIVE diodes should show "380 - YMDD - 466", the alternator we found shows ""M - YMDD - 380". As well, where the JG defines ink info on the NEGATIVE diodes, to show "423 - YMDD - 466". The available unit instead shows "M - YMDD - 468".

In the end, might there be some advice here regarding the indicated discrepancies as noted?

As always, any advice appreciated.

Don,
Don't know if this helps, but this is my alternator off my '67 L79 after being restored by Ken Bruno.
