The heater fan on my 66 coupe only works on high speed. When switched from off to low and medium speeds I get nothing. I hooked up a test light to the positive orange lead wire going to the fan when testing and only the high speed setting indicate power as I suspected. Fan ground is properly attached to the starter bolt. There are 2 black wires that go to ground on the fan. Not sure where the second one goes…resistor? I have a wiring diagram but still not sure about that second black wire. Would appreciate some direction on this.

I know not regarding the wire locations. However, the problem that you are having is often the result of a failed resistor.

        This is the resistor

It's attached to the interior heater box. You need to pull the glove box to get at it.

Thanks Harry, gonna look for it. Guessing most parts houses have it. Is that located behind the glove box interior? Still at work so I won’t have a chance to look at this until tomorrow.

Paul, it is behind the heater box. You can reach it from below the heater box in the passenger compartment. If you only have high speed, it may just be disconnected. The resistor is out of the loop when you get to high speed.
