1963 Corvette 327/340 hp ( L76) Steering Stabilizer Shock.

Am I correct in believing that a 1963 Corvette with a factory installed 327/340 hp engine. (L-76) without factory power steering option (N40), did not come from the factory with a steering stabilizer shock ?

Am I also correct in believing that the reason for this is because the steering stabilizer shock set up did not clear the oil pan when turning the wheels ?

Henry:

You are basically correct on both counts. But the larger (extended sump) oil pan used with the solid lifter engines simply would not allow PS or the stabilizer to be installed.

The 327/340 HP engine or the 327/360 FI HP engine did not have a PS option.
