Car doesnt stay in reverse and cant get the key out

    Guys,

I recently had to bring my 69 L-46 4spd resto back to the body shop for some minor work and ever since getting it back when I put it in reverse It pops out of gear if I take my hand off the shifter and I also can’t get the key to return fully, even if I hold the shifter in reverse. I’ve had the car running for a couple of years now while I finish the rest of the resto and this was never a problem before. I’m going to get it up in the air tomorrow but thought I would ask for thoughts on what it might be.

So I got under the car and the shift interlock cable is kinked. I straightened it out but it just kinked again. Not sure why this happened. Any thoughts on how I can correct this and keep it from kinking?
