This differential is in a 1957 that I have been looking at. I am trying to decipher what is in the car and what would need to be replaced. I was on my back under the 57 trying to take pictures. This 57 has probably been siting for over 30 years.

Looks like the letter I (as in eye) 28 or 29, 1 for 1961. So September 2? 1961. For a 1962 model year car. Did you try to get the stamped in build date/application code from the passenger side?

Thanks Dan, I had thought that might be the date, but it was hard to confirm the I in the picture.
