1965 Survey Question: Rear trailing arm brake clips

    1. The last five digits of your serial number.
    2. Whether this brake clip is on one or both trailing arms, and if only one, which trailing arm has this clip?

    Thanks!

Thanks Chuck! That's fitting into the pattern. These are rare production features. They seem to have been used in December, 64 through February, 65 (before the introduction of the rear sway bar used with the L78 cars). Hopefully more members will contribute to this survey.

          Hope you are well! Tony

Tony, I also notice that the brake line to the caliper is shaped differently than the lines that don't use a clip. There is more of a 90 degree bend at the beginning of the line when there is a clip. Without the clip is more of a 45 degree bend.

                  Tony,

Here's what you've gotten so far sorted by last 5 of VIN.
I can keep tally - or just email you the Excel file if you want to do it...either way, just lemme know...

                    Tony,

I know you are looking at early production cars, but there are no clips on either trailing arm on '65 VIN 22095 equipped with L79.

Thanks Mark!! You da' man! The pattern seems to be December, 1964 through February, 1965. When the L78 car was introduced in March, 1965, the rear sway bar was introduced and the need for the spiral wrapped rear brake lines began. A brake line with spirals couldn't be installed in these clips, so this feature must be pre-March, 1965.

                            Tony,

I looked at me restoration pics for VIN 21429. There were no clips when I disassembled the chassis. The car is an L78.

                            Thanks
