    Re: Tripmeter Question

If it is still able to record accurate trip mileage, live with it.

      Re: Tripmeter Question

The trip meter on my 67 still works. I always reset it to zero on Jan 1st of each year, and record how many miles were driven in the previous year (usually less than 500).
However, when I reset the numbers, when twisting the reset cable, it is a smooth, even drag until the numbers get to 999.9. Then the cable seems to bind up, and then the numbers jump to read 111.1. I can then reverse the cable direction, and all the numbers return to 000.0. That hard spot in resetting has been present for over ten years.

Both my '67 and '72 trip meter cables work fine, if a little stiff, and if I miss the 00000 I can go around again to take another stab at it. If you overshoot, as I recall, you can also go the other direction with the cable a slight bit to align the numbers.
