    73 L48 headlight check valve/filter hoses

Please see pic, is this the correct routing and hose lengths to intake fitting? I don't find a clear drawing in AIM.

the hose from the port looks longer then we typically find. Here are a couple of photos from the 73/74 TIMJG. The first is a 73 while the overhead view is a 74, both L48s. Otherwise, the order of the filters looks correct.

Thanks Tom. Top photo looks like the check valve is over the valve cover and second photo it sits behind valve cover. Is either way correct? And, how can I get a copy of the 74/74 TIMJG.

        Doug,
Either way would be ok, not a big deal. The hose lengths weren't always exactly the same size. Yours does seem a bit too long. No harm in shortening it a little if you'd like to straighten out the path it takes. Important thing is that it has the white stripe. You can go to the NCRS store here on this site and order the 73-74 TIM&JG.

Ok Jimmy, shortened the hose from filter to intake fitting. Looks fairly correct now I think. Tks. Doug 20220310_094149.jpg

Looks good! Save the piece you cut off no mater how short....never know when you'll need a piece with the white tracer!

Yes, always save white tracer hose pieces over the years.

Thanks Jimmy for pointing out the incorrect clamps on recovery hose to radiator. I do have the correct ones off the car, they were kinda grungy so cleaned them up and sanded. I have one extra from my old parts, and I think the smaller one is for the hose inside the recovery tank. See pics. I plan on painting with Rustoleum flat black primer, if that is the right look. I'll post when painted. Doug 20220310_162520.jpg

spring clamps were color coded by size, black (1/2" - 5/8"?), yellow (3/8"), red (1/4"), olive drab (1/2") and those look valuable given the edges are straight across. Sometime later, they became rounded...safety measure.

My original clamps may be stretched slightly, inside measure for large ones is around 5/8", small one is around 1/2". See pic of fuel hose to pump, these look correct, square tips. Assume this is 3/8" fuel hose and 5/16 return. Doug 20220310_180804.jpg

                          Doug,
Those are pretty nice older originals, if you want to paint them to reuse them. I'm sure the previous owner had the correct clamps in the right spots!
Like Tom mentioned above they were different colors for size and application as you well know. Here's just a few originals from my collection.

Yes, the ones I have are nice but they measure about 5/8" inside. The worn hose I took off between tank and radiator was thicker than the replacement I have now. Maybe the correct hose is larger and would fit the clamps I have? Doug
