    1967 K66 quantities

The Black book, Spec Guide, et. al. indicate that the quantity of K66-equipped cars ($73.75 option) in 1967 was 5,759. TIMJG indicates that K66 was mandatory with L71, L88, and L89 cars. There were 3790 of those made. Is my assumption correct that those were included in the 5,759? In other words, there were 1,969 of the remaining 17,181 1967 cars that were made with the K66 option?
And a subsequent question; on the build sheet, window sticker, etc, that came with the L71, L88, and L89 cars, was K66 listed as an additional option, or was that wrapped in the L-option and the price included there?
Just kinda curious this morning. I may know 61-62 and 70-72, but am woefully ignorant on mid-years.

K66 was listed as an option on the tank sticker of 1967 L71 cars, so I think that your estimate that most of 5700 K66 cars were those with L71 is well founded.

You are correct. TI was mandatory option with L-71/89/88, not included with those engine options. So if any of the three were ordered, K-66 would also have to be on the order sheet or the order would be rejected. So K-66 would be on the build sheet/window sticker with any of the three engine options.

Back in '68 I bought the TI system from the owner of what I have always referred to as the "12-mile" '67 L-88. I offered the amount listed on the window sticker and the owner accepted. In 1988 I sold it to David Burrows who owned that particular car at the time.

K-66 was optional with other optional engines, but could not be ordered with the base 300 HP engine. This can be verified by reviewing the distributor applications on page 107 of the 1953-1967 NCRS Spec. Guide.

        Hi Mike,

        Here's what Noland says...

        Noland's sum of L71 and L88 = 3,774.
I'm thinking he has included L89 as part of L71? Dunno for sure, though
If you add the 16 L89s made in '67, you get your number (3,790)

        ** Mandatory.
        thx,
        Mark

So, beyond L71, L88, and L89, there were an additional 1,969 K66 cars in 1967? Or an additional 5,759? I didn't ask my question clearly enough in the first post.

            Clearly, 1,969 additional cars.

Thanks. That is what I thought, but wanted to be sure. I couldn't imagine that about 1/3 of the 67's built were TI cars.
