The term “lock washer” can refer to several things, including a star waster, which is what 121753 is. Lock washer can also refer to a split washer. Both split washers and star washers serve a locking function.

You can often find information regarding what you’re asking about by searching the DB archives.

Here’s information about GM 606404 that was posted in 2013 by Joe Lucia. It appears to be a flat washer, not a split washer.
