dave: i believe the screws retaining either bottom plates are S logo'd and natural or black phos. all 3 of our 65 FI 40083 pumps are configured as such, and one of the 65 FI vets has been ours since 1970, with just over original 20K miles. regards, mike mccagh

                Dave,
Have two pumps, 1 original from my 64FI and 2 is dated 1965. The second was purchased in 1967 from GM thinking I had a fuel pump problem, it was the TI. Both of these have black screws, integral washers, and S logo. Also kept the lower diaphragm with the yellow markings.

                  Alan,
Does your original 64 pump have the cast bottom? Does the 65 service pump have a stamped dichromate bottom?

                    Both are stamped bottoms.

I believe that the 40083's installed on '64 solid lifter 327's had the die cast cover. sometime in '65, the stamped steel bottom cover showed up. mike mccagh
