    1963 Tachometer Drive Cable

On a 1963 is tachometer drive cable gray for all of 1963? Could have 1964 tachometer drive cable be used in a late 1963 car?
I am looking in the latest 7 Edition Technical Judging Manual there is no mention of the 1964 cable being used in a late 1963 car. Just trying to make sure the 1963 cable is used for all of 1963 model year.

Gary gray for 63, and Tan for 64.and slightly configured differently in 64 on the way fitting was compressed over cable sheathing.

The 63 tach cable is light tan, the cable is found on early 64 cars also. The grey tach cable is 64.

63 is gray. Speedometer cable is also gray.

            1. Was there a 1964 "Hex crimp", like in '65 - 67 (according to the 3 other TIM&JGs I have here), or not crimped in 1964?

            2. Is the new 7th edition '63-'64 TIM&JG wrong about "black" for 1964? Photo number M 10.4 shows a unique crimp, or hard to see compared with the 65-67 version.

            3. Paragon (new version) 1887 can be seen with two hex crimps and just one hex crimp (on an older example I have here). Photo is the currently supplied version from Paragon...

"Just trying to make sure the 1963 cable is used for all of 1963 model year" Go with recommendations from Harry & Chuck, gray. In 63 there were at least 2 designs, perhaps 3. Critical differences were the length of 25 1/8 and 22 1/8, raw cable length. Key areas to look at would be the crimp areas.
Note sure why you mentioned the black 64 cable unless you have that on car now, just switch to require JG color, and save what you have.
Remember the JG changes as more information is obtained. And yes black was used in 64, but that's another arrangement.
