Re: New 75 owner
Hi Anthony, I'm in Westchester and have gone through the NCRS Bowtie process with our former '67 427/390hp Corvette convertible. We achieved 5 Stars.
I can gladly help you with info if you'd like. PM me your # and we'll chat. It is largely the same process. Clean Corvette and welcome to the organization.

Re: New 75 owner
GENTLY clean and no more.
You have a car that has made it almost 50 years by gentle preservation.

Thank you pat .. I do want to keep her all original as possible , but thought if I painted engine bay factory colors it would not hurt the originality- Top

If you paint it... then it's not original paint. It's Anthony-induced enhancement. Make sense?Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Re: New 75 owner
Keep in mind, the “standard” that is applied when an NCRS car is judged is quoted below…I’ve highlighted a few words to emphasize what all the others in this post have advised…
“Cars are to be judged to the standard of vehicle appearance, and as equipped at the time and point of final assembly by the Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors Corporation. Presentation for judging is to be in the condition normally associated with that of a Corvette which has undergone the then-current standard Chevrolet Dealer New Car Preparation for delivery to a purchaser, exclusive of any dealer or purchaser inspired additions, deletions or changes.”
Re-Painting your engine bay or seemingly other minor “dressing things up” activities are changes from when it rolled off the line and may compromise what you have…
As Dave H has suggested, spend your initial time reading the latest Judging Reference Manual (9th Edition) and Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide for your car (1975-1977).
PS - I was just typing while Pat was saying the same thing a lot simpler...thx,

Re: New 75 owner
Anthony,
What a very nice car and welcome to the club!
I agree with David who posted above and highly recommend that you purchase the new 3rd Edition of the 75-77 TIM&JG. It is the latest and most up to date edition. There are 266 pages full of valuable information, color photos, footnotes, tables, charts and even GM Service Bulletins. In my opinion there is no better way to get to know your car than to go through each section in the manual and use it as a GUIDE to evaluate your car. However, keep in mind that you may find things on your car that don't match up to what is in the manual...that doesn't necessarily mean it's not original or correct. DO NOT CHANGE anything in question to match what the manual states in these instances and there will be some for sure! Just make a note of it and ask questions about it here on the discussion board. Someone will surely help or steer you in the direction of someone who can. As others have noted above don't touch anything on it and try to get it to a local Chapter Meet and have it judged. The process will be a great learning experience for you as well. If you really feel motivated to go over the car on your own beforehand, scroll down to the bottom of this page and click on the link that says Judging Scoring Sheets. You can search for the 73-77 Scoring Sheet samples and print them off. Using these, you can pair them with the TIM&JG and go over your car.
BTW, if that is an original rubber seal on your air cleaner (I can't be certain, because I can't tell from your photo if it has the ribs going around it on the inside) consider yourself one of the very lucky ones. It appears nearly mint. Usually, they are smooshed over on one side.
Good luck with your car.Jimmy

Re: New 75 owner
What is really interesting is that RC 29 radiator cap. Most ALL judges will tell you it is wrong. It was used on early 73 and I have not seen or heard of it used after that but here is a really original low mile car with it. I wouldn't discount it.- Top
