    1959 Speaker Part#

I found this speaker I removed from my '59 many years ago. It worked fine connected to the AM Wonderbar.

On the magnet are two numbers. 7270428 466101

I cannot seem to locate reference to the part #'s.

Any clues? Is this a original?

    Thanks,
    Rich

Hi Rich, I am strongly inclined to believe your speaker is an original.....
Even though I have owned my '60 since 1974 and it is highly original in most aspects,
I suspect that the radio speaker may have been replaced prior to my ownership.
The "made in Canada" designation and awkwardly-mounted output transformer were
    clues leading to my conclusion.

      Rich------

7270428 is the GM part number. It's applicable to the following:

1958 Chevrolet passenger car with Wonder Bar Radio

1958-62 Corvette with Wonder Bar Radio

It may also have been used on other GM car lines.

GM #7270428 was discontinued without supersession in May, 1972.

Joe, Thanks for the lookup. I was stumped. A global search for those numbers came up blank.

Bert, Yes yours must've been replaced at some time.

PS The # 466101 may be a date code.

Thank you Joe, I also certainly appreciate the info.,
it puts a long-standing originality issue to rest for me!
