    Fuse in Battery box

1982 Collector car with no fuel to injectors. The first question is what is the fuse in the battery battery box. Does it have anything to do with fuel flow?

Ted, have you used a test light or volt meter to verify no voltage at injectors? I believe your owners manual will tell you which fuse is for. Generally when you blow a fuse something is short circuited, or has a load rated higher than the fuse.

Let's try this again. There is a 20 amp fuse in the battery box of my 1982 Vette. Does anyone know what it is for? The shop manual does not address this fuse. It appears to be factory correct.

I don't have 82 wiring diagram in front of me but as I recall that fused circuit is for the fuel pump relay and the oil pressure switch.

Ted, looking at the 82 AIM I don't see a fuse for the fuel pump in that location. There is a fuel pump relay, but the fuse is in the fuse block aim_6a.jpgaim_6b.jpgfuel_pump.jpg

Thanks, the AIM is a lot more helpful than the Shop Manual. The fuel pump fuse is almost impossible to get to under the dash. I don't hear the pump when I turn on the key and was hoping it was something simple other than removing and replacing the fuel pump.

                Re: Fuse in Battery box

The original question was what is the fuse in the 82 battery box. Well the answer is it is a 20 amp fuse and if pertains to the fuel pump. If it is blown the pump does not run.

A photo of that fuse might be helpful.

Did you test the mystery fuse? How many miles on the car? i remember GM fuel pumps in the 80"s and early 90's lasting 125,000 miles and poof they die.

                      Re: Fuse in Battery box

The fuse was bad and it must have been hot several times before blowing. The fuse holder in the battery box was heat discolored. Car had 70k miles.
Took picture but was unsuccessful in loading into thread. It is a single bayonet 20 amp fuse.
