I would think that most GM columns of this vintage would have the required parts. Time to go junkyard hunting..... for steering columns.... maybe 2 or 3.......

It looks like harvesting the parts we need via a salvaged steering column my be the solution.

Hi John, thanks for your responce. We recognize that harvesting the parts we need from a salvaged steering column is probalby the answer. We can get a used column and get the parts, however I have had a couple of people contact me to say the have old non tilt columns and are looking to see if they have the parts we need. I might note on our 72, it appears that the tilt - tele steering was the only option not on the build sheets. The car is now conpletely restored (verified matching #s and correct dated components), so our thought is to retain & repair the orginal steering column to keep it as delivered. Your thoughts are welcomed. Fred

Re: 72 steering wheel lock out not wor

John, both your comments and advise are greatly appreciated. As I previous mentioned the T/T it apprears one of the only options left off our LT1, we recovered the 2 page page build sheet and at this point all the "as delivered" options are still intact (however some required repairs).

FYI I'm 6'3" and 75 years old this month (and not very flexable now days) and my son while considerably more flexable is 6'4", so a T/T column wouth be much better.

I'm fortunate that my son apprerciates the challenge of our restoration projects, and at this point the LT1 (and all the others) will be his.
