    USED POA Valves

One individual vendor sells original POA valves that he cleans up, but does not take apart or rebuild internals, tests them and guarantees them. Has anyone bought these and used in a factory ac car that they actually drive?Would appreciate any experiences.
    Thanks,

I considered that option for my '70 but decided on an NOS POA. They're out there but more expensive. Original finish is often damaged when cleaned.

Thanks Mark, but I'm interested in whether the used and "tested" but not rebuilt function properly.
Will appreciate those who have gone this route will give me their experiences. I drive my car in the summer and a functioning ac is important to me. Can live with a few defects in finish if the used ones work. NOS's way high priced.

        Re: USED POA Valves

There is a test to check if the POA valve is operating. These pictures show a used POA I purchased (and did use) from a salvage yard in the desert near Palm Springs. See that it is clean with no rust. I think that moisture "freezes" these valves and if you find a clean and rust free it will probably work, but you would want to be sure before going through all the trouble of R&R. These pictures show the set up I used to test the POA. Made up from parts I had at home. I forget the steps to do the test, but once hooked up opening and closing the manifold valves will make the POA operate. Compressed air is introduced into the yellow line on the manifold. I found this on the internet, but forgot the source. I believe that seller uses this test. POA pictures in next post.
