63 Borg Warner 4 speed Second Gear Shift Problem

Have to do a pretty hard shift from 1st to 2nd to get it to go into 2nd. Doesn't grind when it goes in but shouldn't be that difficult. Shifts into other gears are normal. Is this a tranny problem or shifter issue?

Tom, When your sitting still,not moving and engaging into 2nd does it do the same thing? Does it down shift into 2nd ok? Make sure also that you have the clutch free play set, if your pedal is releasing to low from the floor it may cause a problem.

With engine not running shifts normally into all gears. With engine idling, catches a little going into 2nd. Seems to go in better if I hold the shifter very firmly to the left. Previous owner told me the shifter was replaced or rebuilt when restored about 1500 miles ago. Maybe it'll loosen up after I put some miles on.
