C2 Rear Bumper Bolts Torque Specs

Replacing the non original bolts (markings on the heads) on my 66 Base Engine Coupe. I looked in
the AIM and Service Manuals and could not find the "Bolt Torque Specs" for the Rear Bumpers. I may
have missed them but does anybody know off hand? Thanks in Advance>Larry

    Larry,
I've never seen, nor do I believe, there are any torque specs for bumper bolts. Just button them up tight...nothing crazy. The lock washers will hold everything place.

Larry, there is a sequence to bolt tightening. As I recall you start in the middle and work your way outward. This will help to not crack the fiberglass. If I have the sequence backwards, I'm sure others will chime in,

Thanks Leif and Harry for the comeback. BTW>On the two bolts that connect the rear panel to the body of
the car on each side; does the head of the bolt face the inner or outer part of the car? Thanks Again>Larry
P.S. Something similar to the 68/69 C3 front Valance Spoiler where the AIM shows Head of Bolt facing the front
but the assembly workers did the opposite for "their convenience". Thoughts??

          Larry,
If you're asking about the rear valance bolts (of which there are three per side) the bolt head faces to the outside of the car...nuts are to the inside...same as the bumper bolts.

Leif: No not those. I talking about the two bolts/nuts(which I believe are bigger then the rest)>one on each end of the lower part of the panel.
They connect the panel to the body fiberglass of the car. These Bolts/Nuts can not be seen from the outside of the car. Larry

Re: C2 Rear Bumper Bolts Torque Specs

Just an added note on the bolts I replaced. The ones I took out where all over the place as far as head markings and size but on some
of the ones that looked awful original the head markings had an simple "R"nothing else which I did not see in the Judging Manual. All
where replaced with a "TR" head marking. Larry

Can you post a photo of one of the R headmark bolts?
