You can buy correct era PF-51s on eBay for not a lot of money.
They're blue instead of black, but the deduction in judging is small.

If someone could reproduce the label that's all it would take. With that, a PF-52 could be "converted" to a PF-51.

By the way, I'm not so sure that all LT1 oil filters were black. My early build, original owner 1992 definitely did have a black PF-51 (I still have it). However, during the 1992 NCRS National Convention we toured the Flint Engine Plant. They were just finishing up 1992 engine assembly and starting 1993 engine assembly. I distinctly recall that I saw a pallet full of PF-51 (or PF-52) oil filters. They were BLUE. These had to have been destined for Corvette LT1 engines because that was the only engine produced at Flint at the time that used the PF-51/52 filter.

Incidentally, what was the difference between the PF-51 and PF-52? Well, the PF-51 has no oil drain-back valve while the PF-52 does. This difference is actually unimportant for the LT1 engine but is important for some of the many other applications for this oil filter.
