Installing shielding on my '62 (currently set up as 340 HP) I see that it will not fit down over the rear window of the dual point distributer (look close at the center of photo #3). In searching my photo library, it seems that the distributer should be placed so that the front window is facing straight forward (in line with the intake runner for #8 cylinder) unlike mine which is slightly off (see photo #1) and that the distributer cap mounting screws should be straight across at 3 and 9 o'clock, unlike mine (see photo #2).
So it looks like the distributer needs to be rotated counterclockwise for the rear window to fit inside the slight dogleg in the shielding and I need to reposition the distributer maybe a tooth to achieve this.
While this shouldn't be a problem, it raises a question. Once the rear window is position correctly within the dogleg relief in the shielding, it doesn't look like there would be any clearance for adjusting the timing and I'm wondering why there wouldn't be a relief cut into the shielding as there is for the front window of the shielding.
Any thoughts or comments?
BTW, engine is in time and has been running fine.
