Is an original window sticker the same as a tank sheet?

    Guys,

In restoring my 69 I was not able to get a tank sticker. I originally sent the car to a shop for restoration that went sideways and had to pull my car out with stuff literally in buckets after a botched attempt at a resto and was never told if a tank sticker or other build sheet was found. I'm the 3rd owner and bought the car from the family of my best friend growing up after he passed away unexpectedly very young. They gave me all the documents they got from the original owner when he bought the car which includes what I believe is the original window sticker. Is this something that is equally useful at determining the trim and provenance of my car? See the attached pic.

Yes equally as valuable for documenting a car... tank sheet is somewhat different however contains the same information.
The window sticker and CAR SHIPPER are carbons of one another.

In my opinion, the window sticker should be validated by NCRS. Lots of reproduction stickers accompany cars.

If you use the NCRS Validation Service, ensure the two items circled in red are very clear. Send them a copy, they do not need the original.

I've never heard of a 350 hp turbo jet

Yes, a 350 CI, 350 HP engine that was called Turbo-Jet, like the BBs were, not Turbo-Fire like the 327s were, IIRC.

It has caused some confusion before, and make some money for Al Greening......

Not that I know of, I think the LT1s were called Turbo-Fire, and IIRC, even this L46 had Turbo-Fire on the air filter decal.

I would suggest NCRS also, however do not be surprised if they cannot complete the task, if I remember correctly a lot of the 1969 higher VIN records are missing from the shipping data records.

OK thanks for the info guys. Maybe I'll send a copy to NCRS to be validated, but I'll definitely bring it when I have it judged. This was given to my friend by the original owner around 1988-89 when he purchased it. I doubt the seller had any interest (sort of boring L46 lightly optioned) or even the ability to counterfeit it way back then, but I guess you never know. IIRC, I think it also came with a metal plate that had the info that was stamped onto the blue sticker that was on the door. Was that a thing? I could be thinking of another car I bought from him and I'll have to look to see if I'm correct but I think I definitely remember seeing a plate in the package of stuff he gave me. We used to use plates like this to stamp patient labels when I worked in a hospital way back when before all this stuff was digitized.

A real tank sticker is a great document to have but a real window sticker is even better since it includes the vin of your car.
