    Clutch Throwout

I am almost embarrassed to say this, but I can't figure out just how the throw out bearing attaches to or interfaces with the throw out fork and spring clip. I have something wrong but I can't tell from looking at it from underneath the car. Does the bearing attach somehow to the clip? A picture or photo would be great.

I have the clip between the rear lip of the bearing, with the fork riding in the grove area of the bearing.

I may have a passenger car fork, don't know, but I thought the only difference was where the push rod attaches.

Not looking forward to pulling the tranny back, but I have to fix this.

Appreciate your help. This should be simple.

          Update:

Is now fixed. An agonizing weekend underneath the car, but it was worth it. I suppose at 81 I should be thankful that I can still do this, but it is for sure much harder for me now.

Big difference in drive-ability. One by one I am slowly working out the problems with this car.

          Appreciate your help immensely.

            Dan,
That's great news and thanx for reporting back with your outcome. BTW, you ought to be damn proud of yourself and thankful that you can still play with your baby at 81 years old. That's fantastic!!

              Re: Clutch Throwout

I'm installing a new throwout bearing in my 63 300HP. I purchased SKF N1488 from NAPA. I'm installing it (off of the car) and it slips out of the yoke. I am installing it correctly with the tabs inside the rear of the bearing. However, it seems to fallout easily! Is this "normal" and will it be okay once the bell housing is installed??

Seems odd that it would be this loose.

              Thanks
