Pete Bergman did a mock PV on my 07 base convt at Rosmond last week, one question came up. If your C6 came with (RPO XGN H/PERF FRT TIRES) and (RPO YGJ H/PERF REAR TIRES) WOULD ONE FAIL THE PV if the tires were not the Goodyear run flat, ie: EMT, extended mobility tires. Which are unavailable in New unused condition. This question poses a conundrum, because, if an RPO is missing at the PV test it will fail. Unlike 670.15 or 710.15, the tires are not reproduced by an outside source. JUST ASKING?

If Bergman is on the "cutting edge" of C6 Flight Judging, then I guess that puts you on the "bleeding edge".
Expect rules will change a la base coat clear and lacquer. As sources dry up, what else can be done?
Thanks for volunteering your car BTW.

Re: C6 future judging
You make an excellent point Dave I do not believe Coker, or other repo tire factories will be able to hot cap these tires, DOT would be all over them, or not, NTSB would have a field day with this one, like self-driving cars. Oh, command decisions are hard to come by in this day and time, Where's G. Patton when in need.- Top

The answer to your tire question will be with the C6 National Team Leader. That said, those of us with older cars are allowed to replace the flexible brake lines and still do PV because of safety. I doubt any National Team Leader who has his butt in the seat of the Corvette in question would insist on originality vs safety. But then I can't speak for all the Team Leaders, nor would I ever try to.
I have the original tires for my 2008 Z06 all wrapped up nice and pretty. I wouldn't consider doing a PV with them. If it came to a demand to use them for a PV - I'm out.Terry- Top

Re: C6 future judging
I suspect that they may have to be run flats, but not necessarily originals with regard to brand.
That's the same standard as our current pre-73 "old car" tires - we have to use bias ply tires, but rarely are originals used.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Re: C6 future judging
We PV'd my wife's '03 with run flats that were not the original Goodyears. I realize this is not an '06, but I would agree with Patrick that as long as they are run flats then they should qualify. The original Goodyears are no longer available for the '03.

Re: C6 future judging
Let's say my 2006 is all original, except the tires and the battery, but the battery is the correct group Delco.
That's 64 for the tires and 10 for the battery. Assume all else is a slash. Total is 74. That's a 98.5. Think I'm ok with that number. I'm not going to sweat the tires.

Re: C6 future judging
Harry @ Bob, the question is not for Flt judging, I have no problem with an 18-to-21-point hit for my present non OEM run flat tires. The question is for a PV, if the car came with the Goodyear run flats as two separate RPO's, that are listed on the build sheet, would one fail the test. Thanks for all your input. I guess I will have to wait for the PV manual publishing for a decision of this magnitude, my ancient Barnicle brain hurts thinking about it, I will rest it with a cold adult beverage.- Top

Re: C6 future judging
Brian @ Harry, you are both correct. I will wait for the topic to arrive in print before I spend my my meager funds on a question not a fact. Thank you and all who responded to my chatter. It is always good to listen and not talk.- Top
