"Spacer" behind French Lock - Exh Manifold 66 427

This "spacer" - is it just a thick flat washer? Could I use some 3/8 split ring lock washers and make sure the split is not visible? Some orange paint and it should look as original.

I just hate to have to order and pay shipping for 4 washers...........

If you have the GM part # for the spacer enter it into the search field of this forum and hit enter. You stand a good chance of getting a long list of threads written by NCRS members that include discussions about that spacer, and I bet some members even entered measurements, including its thickness. Don't know for sure what the purpose of the spacer is on a 427 - SBs have them on the ex. manifold - it prevents the bolt from bottoming out in the threaded hole before the manifold can be torqued to spec - if it is not torqued it will leak and likely warp the manifold. Kind of essential.

Could not find number in AIM. Says engine is recieved as an assy which I "assume" means the manifolds are already in place....

There is a thread in this forum titled 67 big block exhaust manifold french locks there is a post in the thread that indicates the thickness of the original spacers - here is the link to the thread https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...anifold+spacer

Hope this helps - BTW - I entered "exhaust manifold spacers" in the search field - and found it - the search engine in the NCRS forum is excellent.

Thank you for the link, I will check it out.

I use the search function most of the time before I post. In this case I found nothing in my searches to answer my question and thus my post. I suppose I should have included that I searched the archives and did not find my answer. Of course an archive search is only as good as the input search criteria and others may have better results searching on different criteria then I.

                Tom,

Do you already have 4 spacers? Eight spacers are needed in total, not four. Yes?
