Source for 68 Std energy absorbing Steering Column??

I am restoring my steering column on my 68 and see that the upper and lower shafts of the two-piece energy absorbing feature can slide freely. The metal cage section is not collapsed but is cracked and is two pieces. My understanding is that this column is spent and needs to be replaced.

In looking on line, I am not seeing many options to replace the shaft section / metal cage assembly. Other than EBay, I am also struggling to find a supplier of the entire column itself. I also think, but can be completely wrong, that the 67 and 68 columns are identical designs, which could open my options to source from the C2 world as well.

Does anyone have a suggestion or recommendation on how best to repair the column or who to call for a suitable replacement?
    Thanks!

the plastic shear pin has been broken. this is done by the people installing the other type of steering box who need to shorten the shaft

Keith, Do you know something we don't know?

Either way, the mesh can be repaired. See the following pdf in the Sticky DoRD thread. Then link to Update Page....

This file... Note its titled "Tele", but it shows how to repair a Std column also.

P.S. Yes 67 and 68 columns are the same, except early 67 uses a different lower bearing and plastic spacer. Differences in Date placement also, iirc

Blueprints in the DoRD link also. HERE

Rich, like many others have already said- thanks for this amazing document! I will post a pic of the steering column when I have a chance to see if it seems salvageable.

            Thanks!
