    Cross country transport for purchase

If all things go well, I should be purchasing the '66 that Jim Ranahan inspected for me. I'm in CA and the car is in Florida. I would appreciate any help, advice and recommendations for choosing a transport company. Thanks

Re: Cross country transport for purchase

Don, congratulations on the purchase. I've used Intercity Transport twice, great service. Used Reliable once, also great service. When I bought my 66 L72 Roadster out at The Villages in Central Florida a year ago, none of the big name carriers were able to give me any time frame for pickup.
I eventually signed on with Reliable but after a few weeks and still no good news, I looked elsewhere.
I remembered a small transport outfit that came up to Prescott to pick up my neighbors 31 Ford Hot Rod Sedan for a consignment dealer in Phoenix/Scottsdale. I had talked with the driver at that time and he was quite careful when handling my friends Ford so when I was having no good luck with the name brands, I called them up but found they didn't do interstate hauling, just within Arizona. But he knew of a custom shop down in Mesa that had customers all over the country. Contacted them and found the husband/wife team occasionally had customers cars to return to them...some in Kentucky/Virginia/Montana, etc and had a trip planned a few weeks later. I did get a copy of their insurance policy, double checked their CDL's and in a few weeks, they picked up my 66 Roadster and had it to me in less than two days...they took turns driving their 2020 tandem enclosed trailer and 2019 Dodge 4500 Truck. The cost was just a smidge higher than the big name transport outfits but it all worked out in the end.
So, maybe check with custom shops, maybe even Corvette Mike in Socal, to see who they use.
    Good luck.

As shown on the discussion board thread below, sometimes you can skip the trailer company.
      But that's not for everyone...

I just used this service Ken's Stage 1 Transport. Excellent to work with. He has a three car enclosed trailer. He transported my 53 Chevy pickup from Georgetown TX to Streator, IL. He is based in Illinois. (708) 307-7071. Tell him I recommended you to him.

I have access to a dealer only web site, can post your car if you want. Most truckers check this site for loads ./ singles.

I really appreciate the offer. I've found a different car a local dealer has on consignment, and he that's exactly what he is planning on doing. If things fall apart and I go a different route, I'll take you up on it.

Put the deposit down today! '67 roadster in fantastic condition. Here's the link to the car: 1967 Ermine White Corvette L79 Convertible | Corvette Mike | Used Chevrolet Corvettes for Sale

Just waiting for the damn Upstate NY weather to stop raining so Gary Seymour can head up and look it over for me. If all goes well, should be a done deal in a couple days.

Don, congrats, it looks great and the Redlines look good on a white car. Who will you get to haul it home to you?
