Re: Mid Year Radio
Kevin
I had 3 radios refurbished at the same time out of 65 , 66 & 67 i had them upgraded to WI FI connection. I can not tell the difference between the 3 I did write name address and year on each. If your car is an AC car god help you on speaker replacement.- Top

Re: Mid Year Radio
Kevin--
There are installed appearance differences, as well as performance differences between the '63 to '67 Corvette radios. As a consequence, there are numerous discussions in the Technical Discussion Archives (TDA) on the subject. Recommendation: Type in the Search block of the TDA, Differences in C2 radios, and several very informative posts will appear. One very excellent response was from Mr. Joe Ray on 30 April 2009, which stated:
"Guys,
There are three different radio's for 63 to 67 Corvettes.
The 63 wonder bar.
The 63-64 AM-FM.
And the 65-67 AM-FM.
In an effort to come up with an AM-FM radio for the Corvette Delco took an existing design AM radio and added an FM tuner to make the 63-64 AM-FM radio. Not a good idea but it worked until they could build a real AM-FM radio.
The 65-67 AM-FM was a new design and worked very well for Corvette and Delco. Works good, sounds good and is dependable.
The external differences are what is important to judges cause the numbers, transistor numbers etc. are hidden behind the panels.
The 63 WB radio can be identified by the bar to select channels.
The 63-64 AM-FM can be identified only by the color of the AM-FM lens the AM being green and FM being red. They also have the Conelrad? triangles on the drum for the numbers.
The 65 AM-FM radio can be identified by the color of the AM-FM lens but only when the lens is illuminated. It's black until illuminated but the FM becomes red and the AM becomes green when the radio is on AND the lights are on.
The 66-67 AM-FM radio can be identified by the color of the AM-FM lens also. It's black until illuminated and green when illuminated on both the AM-FM.
Hope this helps as these are the only external differences in the radios.
As a side note, the 63-64 radios are not worth buying on e-bay. Buy the later 65-67 AM-FM and change the lens and tuner drum."
JR
This should provide a good starting point in your search for a proper radio for your 1967 Corvette, if I correctly understood your question.

Re: Mid Year Radio
Mr. McMorrow, The warning about the speaker access and AC is noted! lol Thanks for the heads up, but no AC to worry about in this '67....Kevin

Gary, thanks for this advice! I do hope the original speaker is up for the job, but at this point still unknown. I do hope to dig into it this weekend.
Mr. Vanderhoeven, This post extremely helpful and exactly what I was trying to learn. (saved)! I like many fail to use the search feature, I blame my laziness and honestly I do forget to use it as a default source, point taken!Kevin--

Re: Mid Year Radio
Hi Again Kevin--
I am not the "all knowing" Technical Discussion Board expert--far from it; but perhaps it might be helpful to start a new post specifically asking your new question. For example, "Request best vendor(s) to obtain correct 1967 Delco AM/FM radio," or something to that effect. Might alert members to your new question/query.
Best Regards,

Re: Mid Year Radio
Hi Rob, How or what to post on the TDB can be difficult. I’m too, not sure if a vaguely posted WTB thread is permissible…..? Let’s keep my fingers crossed a member with the source stumbles onto this thread? I do however like your wording and suggestions!Hi Again Kevin--

Re: Mid Year Radio
Kevin,
All C2 AM/FM radios originally had a paper ID sticker attached. The sticker could have been anywhere on the outside of the radio or possibly on the inside on one of the two side panels. In 1967 the ID stickers started about 81 FSF 2300 and ending about 81 FSJ 9999.
Good luck
