    Devcon for radiator repair

Anyone using Devcon for Corvette repairs?

My experience with Devcon dates back 30 years or so when a machine shop repaired a pair of 2L FI heads on our 1976 VW type2 camper. The valve cover gasket surfaces were crushed during replacement of valve guides. I was dubious at first but the repair look good. The shop gave me a written guarantee and we now have over 200k miles on the VW without issues.

I'm considering using Devcon to repair a leak on the original radiator on my 1974 Corvette.

Doug etal. In the early 90's there was an NCRS regional in Rochester, NY. Frank Sciabia of Rochester Products was the chairman of the chapter or the show. Anyhow we toured the RP engineering center. We were told to stay in the lines for the tour. I got out of line and walked over to a shop desk and spotted a tube of Devcon. Well I got hollered at by the tour guide.
Then I asked question. "Sir is that epoxy any good". He said it would not be there if it wasn't.
When we left the tour guide came running up to me outside. He said here is a present but don't open it until you are off the grounds.
The lunch bag was full of Devcon tubes. Yellow and black. I still have one here as a keepsake. John

I decided to pull the radiator and have a shop rebuild it. Industrial Devcon 10110/10210 is now going for $75-$100 for a 1lb can so not very practical all things considered. According to the SDS sheets the small tubes marketed as "DEVCON HOME PLASTIC STEEL" under the Permatex brand is not the same stuff.

I use Devcon 10110 for a lot of repairs, as well as bedding of rifles.
However, I would not use it on a radiator.

I think you're going the right direction.
Instruct the shop to use the upper and lower original plates when recoring your radiator. Replacements are configured differently.
