    Year and transmission type?

Are you saying that with the engine running in neutral and the clutch depressed, it doesn't shift into any gear and it doesn't grind while attempting this?

My first thought is the clutch isn't fully disengaging. But this is usually accompanied with grinding. You might check for this anyway.

Does the clutch fully disengage? The friction point should be with the pedal a couple of inches above the floor (exact spec is in the manual).

                Jack,

You've had several threads regarding the clutch/bearing/fork problems. Some who are reading this thread may not know your previous efforts. It may have been better to continue where you left off.

You never got back to us in This Thread.

Did you test any of this with the bell housing out?

if you had the flywheel resurfaced it could cause the problem you are having. You may have to add shims to move the flywheel closer to the clutch. This will give you more adjustment on the rod. I think the rod used on a 66 is a little longer substituting would also fix your problem.
