    1962 Drivetrain Numbers Thoughts?

New to C1's. I recently bought this 1962, 327/300, 4spd, 3.36. Posting pictures of the engine, transmission, and rear end numbers and stampings. The car from what I can tell is assembled in October 1961. Do these dates and stampings look like they could be original?

Not an expert by any means but a few things come to mind
    1. The broach marks are running the wrong way, could be just me but numbers look too good!
    2. Transmission code, not sure there is suppose to be a hyphen in the numbers
    3. Rear end date is August, a bit far in advance for a Octomber built car.
Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will chime in. Might be a good idea to buy the 61-62 Judging Manual

Terry and Ken, Thanks for the replies, I appreciate your inputs. I do have the judging guide and was wondering about the transmission stamping and the hyphen. I posted an additional photo of the engine pad.
        Thanks again. Frank

Rear end numbers look excellent. Exactly the way they should. Transmissions in 62 often had that dash in them, but there is at least one ghost number that I see that concerns me. The block broach marks, as noted, are horizontal when they should be vertical.

If you enlarge the photos nice natural broach marks are there over most of the pad. Particularly in the second provided pad photo but present in the first too. What has been described as horizontal broach marks are likely scratches from something abrasive used to clean the pad and or residue from paint remover, lacquer thinner or the like wiped off from side to side. Oddly the mid point on the 3 in the build stamp seems to morph to an unusual 3 from photo 1 to photo 2.

If the build date of '62 #857 is October 2nd then the trans build date is a problem

Dan, Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I thought the same thing when I first saw the WJ81-2. W=Warner Gear J=October, 8=8th day, 1=1961 and 2 = 2nd shift. I went back to the JG, it says no "I" was used for the assembly code month letters for the 4spd transmission.
So if J=September, then a 8 September assembly date should work? Frank

When all else fails, read the instructions. Your are right re the trans date. I received the message from the NCRS private message system and cleaned out my in box.

I think the engine pad looks completely original. The right fonts for the year and also good grain.
