    Re: 65-67 battery location(s)

Gary, according to the GM ADA spec manuals, for the 65 & 66 model years, the battery location was "right rear engine compartment" for all engine options. It does not mention or provide info regarding location of battery for AC or no AC cars.

It's been 47 years but I'm pretty sure my 1965 L78 had the battery on the driver's side.

My L 78 had the battery on the drivers side with the battery fender panel. My 67 C 60 also has the battery on the drivers side same panel.

ALL factory A/C cars had the battery on the driver's (left) side, as did the '65 big block. ALL other small blocks and big blocks had the battery on the passenger (right) side. Access panel built into the left (driver's side) inner fender well.

Leif you are correct except the access panel was on all A/C and "65" 396 cars on the left side rear wheel well for battery access.

TOTALY confused. ALL my AC C-2'S SB & BB has the battery on the drivers side with the inner fender bolted in to remove the battery. All non AC cars had the battery on the passenger side with NO inner fender removable panel.

                    Ken,

                    You are correct.

So, the answer is not as complex as I expected. To summarize:

All 65-67 cars with C60 (AC) had the battery on the left (driver’s) side. All 65-67 cars without AC had the battery on the right (passenger’s) side; with one exception: ‘65 L78 cars without AC also had the battery on the left.

Left side batteries had the removable access panel; right side batteries did not.

                        What does “&nbsp” mean?

                        Gary

&nbsp is an HTML browser code for "nonbreaking space", which has to do with not allowing a new line to separate words/numbers/symbols. These codes are usually hidden from display. You will see this in a page display when part of the HTML code has been broken in some way.
