I am using a Mahle black one piece oil pan gasket on a 1970 350. The package is silent about the use of sealer. Is there a consensus about using these things dry or with sealer?

Re: Does one piece oil pan gasket need sealer?
Patrick,
I like to smooth a thin layer of Permatex Black on both sides of the gasket. Double insurance against any leaks. And, of course, be sure the mating surface of the oil pan is nice and flat. I hate oil leaks.Leif

They might seal okay (for a while) without silicone if you're installing an NOS pan on a never-fired engine block, but I've never had that privilege.- Top

Good point about using the old original imperfect oil pan.
