    Need a 1957 part identified.

This was in my box of door parts for my 1957.
Unsure what it's for or where it goes.
    Any help is appreciated.

It appears to be part of the front grill unit

It goes at the top of the door where the side window goes up and down. It's used to secure the stainless trim to the door fiberglass. The photo is looking at the underside that touches the fiberglass.

One the door panel side or the exterior?
        Thank you.
Now I know what to look for I will check/inspect the assembly manual.

          Richard, Section F Sheet 12.00

It looks like part of it has been cut off at one end, and the holes for the trim screws have been enlarged.

I've seen many where they've cut about a inch or so in the middle also.
And I think your piece is a cutoff just like below. Check your stash there may be more pieces.

Thanks for the great pictures. I would have had a time of it going by the poor diagrams in the manual.
Much appreciated. I have found reproductions. Just added to the growing list of parts for the doors.

56-58 Door Outer Reveal Molding Retainers. Zip has them for $53 for a pair.

              Richard,

Keep in mind you may need to cut a portion out from the center of the Repros to add a stud clip to help hold the reveal moulding better. The AIMs don't show that but I'm convinced they did that on many cars, maybe all.

Also, you can't install the sideglass before the outer reveal is attached to the reinforcements with those tiny Phillips scews. The forward part of the glass frame covers access to the front screw.

P.S. I talk about the reveals variations below on Pg 23. Here
