Re: Can anybody help ID this dual SNORKLE air cleaner?
From appearances, it looks like an early C3 closed element filter housing, like '70-'72. My '72's looks just like that. If there's no evidence of a label it is likely '72 (from what I recall about HP labels). I believe they went to black lids in '73.
How far do the snorkles extend from the main body?- Top

Ditto from what Owen said. Looks identical from my original June 1970 (late '70 model) base engine's assy. I understand from the '70-'72 TIM/JG that a switch from open element to dual snorkel occurred towards the later half of the '70 production of non-SHP 350's. Hmmmm ... Ownen has a good point about the snorkel length ... I took a photo of mine and my snorkel lengths appear to be longer than Rich's photo. Mine are almost exactly 5" in length.

I will say that I don't think it is from a Corvette.
There should be a crankcase vent elbow on the bottom, and all this one has is the flat boss where that would mount.
I'm thinking Monte Carlo.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Completely missed the missing crankcase vent elbow! What diameter is the lid?- Top

Re: Can anybody help ID this dual SNORKLE air cleaner?
I too missed the vent elbow ... I'm blaming it on my advanced age!
BTW - my Corvette lid diameter is 15.5" as a data point for comparison with Richard's data.Bill Bertelli

Re: Can anybody help ID this dual SNORKLE air cleaner?
Yup. There are MANY GM air cleaners of the period that were similar to Corvette but not the same. These were used across all GM car and truck lines, not even just Chevrolet. Unfortunately, the vast majority of GM air cleaners have no part number on them to aid identification. If there is a part number, it's usually only on one component of the air cleaner assembly. That will usually not enable identification of the complete assembly unless the component is uniquely applicable to a particular air cleaner assembly. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
