I am looking for a recommendation for a person or company to transport my 63 Vette from Lake Hopatcong, NJ to West Chester, PA (120 miles) on February 1st. Transport may be either open or enclosed. Does anyone have a recommendation? Thank you.

Rent a trailer from U haul if you are satisfied with an open trailer......- Top

Re: Transport C2, NJ to PA
Hire a professional, insured, experienced, transporter. Too much risk, for you and the private traileror......I naively did that route once for an owner, in my enclosed trailer. Only afterward, did I realize the risks I had taken (insurance coverage would not have covered the contents), along with the owner of the freshly restored Corvette done by CC.... Just my opinion.....- Top

Re: Transport C2, NJ to PA
I’ve used Horseless Carriage several time and never had a problem. Advanced notice is required and you have work around their schedule. Typically the cars are picked up on route, then trucked individually their final destination. That part of the trip is typically not enclosed unless you ask for it.
I’ve also, used local company’s for short haul. I’ve never met a hauler that wasn’t into cars in general, or classics for sure. That’s not a guarantee of anything but it help to break the ice. I’m in Morris County and have used Eagle Truck services (Parsippany) at least a dozen times for short hall uncovered transport. Never had a problem.
Any time car is trailered, a lot can go wrong.
1 - Loading an unloading can lead to clearance problems.
2 - Hook types and attachment points are not always chosen correctly.
3 - Tie-downs once on the trailer can lead to damaged wheel covers.
4 - Rocks or just about anything can fly off the pavement and hit the car if it’s not covered. This is a big problem when highways are the only way to get between points A and B, which will be the case in your situation.
A lot of these issues can be avoided if you are there to either load or unload the car. The driver ultimately will be the determining factor and they will alway tell you they move classics and high end cars all the time and not to worry. My advise is worry and then be happy when you’re wrong. Take your own photos as well, including the front and rear attachment and strapping points.
Do not uses a car cover if you end up getting it flat-bedded. The wind will blow the material all over the place and wreck the paint.
I personally would not have the courage to tow my car as I have never done it before.67 427/400 Lynndale Blue Corvette https://online.flippingbook.com/view/750924569- Top

Call Ken Baker at Executive Transport 609 462 4846. He transported my 72 from The National in Mobile to NJ. Great enclosed equipment and on time. Was reasonable even with the increase in gas prices.

Re: Transport C2, NJ to PA
Went to U-haul's web site and found that is an option. I did not know they rented trailers. If nothing works out, I know I have a back-up. Thanks. Stephen.- Top

Re: Transport C2, NJ to PA
Back a few years ago when I bought my 64 fuel coupe out in So CAL I towed it 150 miles home on the trusty Uhaul..They are great open trailers, even if ancient like the one rented to me.. Superb tie down system. It works..but you need to have a stout pick-up truck tow vehicle.- Top

There was no way I was going to trust anyone but myself to tow my 63. 850 miles each way. Slept in the front seat with my Smith & Wesson .- Top
