    GM License Plate Mounting Kit

What production period does this envelope represent? Its quite fancy given early envelopes were brown, white and then plastic. I'm thinking 78-82?

    Tom,
I’m thinking much earlier. Probably sometime between the 30’s~50’s~60’s

Tom- The bottom of your image is a little blurry... does it have a part number anywhere?
Even in the 60s,there were various part numbers for different vehicles & years...
So I tend to agree with Jimmy, for something much earlier than the late 70s.

What I purchased my frames from the Chevy dealer in 1978/9 timeframe for my 1970 Corvette, they came in the familiar blue and white envelope.

Joe Lucia could probably pin-point the era on that package a little better. Like Jimmy, I'm thinking late 50's based upon the GM logo design on the envelope.

            DEFINITELY NOT 78-82.

I have seen this style packaging on parts with as late as 1965 released part numbers. I don't think I've ever seen it on any part numbers released after 1965. So, I believe that 1965 is about the last time it was used. Of course, parts with this style packaging could have been in GMSPO inventory or on dealer's shelves long after 1965.

As far as how far back it goes, all I can say is that I've seen parts with early 1950's released part numbers with this style packaging. So, I'd say it goes back at least that far. How far back beyond that I cannot say as I have virtually no experience with pre-1950 released part numbers.

Also, keep in mind that part numbers that were released before 1965 but which were continuously manufactured after 1965 will have later generation packaging depending upon when they went into GMSPO inventory.

Thanks you all. The photo in my image cache is before 2007, at which time my computer crashed. The restorer saved the photos but their association with other images and/or events was lost. Going through the archived file, it piqued my curiosity so your help is appreciated. The properties show low resolution to the point if the part number is there, can't read it. An old camera as well...early NCRS days!

Tom, a quick Google search of GM logo history shows that logo used by GM from 1938 to 1964 so that backs up Joes timeframe, cool part !!
