You might be able to slice it down the middle and slide it in on each side but it will be difficult the transmission is pretty close to the fiberglass hump.

I'm will be doing this on my '65 in the spring when I will be replacing the exhaust system. I plan to make a cut at the transmission linkage cut out and rotate it from the passenger's side over the top. I have a partial role of the silver/chrome heat tape that I used on my home HVAC duct work to make the repair at the cut.

I did exactly what you suggested with my '70. I made a cut from the left side up to the shifter opening. Then I installed it from the passenger side by rotating it around into place. Used Reflectix foil tape to seal up the cut...practically invisible.
I did this while replacing the exhaust which made access easier.

ok. Got it in. Did exactly as I thought and others have posted here. Slit the rear shifter opening and slid insulation over top of the trans from the drivers side. It did get hung up a bit by the shifter linkage so I had to push and pull a bit. I did have to replace toe two forward retaining clips. Question, do the tabs fold in or out?

Paul, AIM UPC 1 BOLT WELD pages typically show the bends Outward, but I've seen Inward over the years also. I always did the Outward bend on the cars I've restored.
