    68 smog set-up

    Hello all,

    can anyone out there help me with the numbers for smog-setup on my new 1968 327/350 car Just bought it and smog is not there, it is a 100% correct original car paint body soft-top engine (all #'s Matching) So I need to make sure I get the "Correct" smog-pump. I'm sure you have had this conversation before, sorry but I'm no good at researching the archives.

    Any Help is appreciated,

    Thank You

    I recently included photos of an NOS 1968 AIR pump [not for sale] in a previous thread titled C3 Rebuild. While I included photos of several pumps, the one you need is shown as GM #7806686. This pump was used exclusively for 1968 model GM cars as well as 1969 Corvette L-88/ZL-1.

    This pump is not too difficult to find in used or rebuilt form------NOS virtually impossible.

        I've had this pump a very long time and I forget what I paid for it. But, there's no way I'd sell it.

        The seller has the part number wrong on this listing but this is a rebuilt example of the pump you need:

          Jim, if you are looking for the entire Smog System or just parts contact Bill Hodel. Bill has complete systems that are correct. 330-832-0871 or billhodel@sbcglobal.net Page 30 in Jan-Feb Driveline under Parts for Sale. He helped me with a complete system for my 68.

            Jim,
            The pumps are dated. You can see a date in the pictures that Joe L. linked you to.
            34871S = 348th day of 1967, 1st shift, Saginaw

            Also, in 1968 the bracketing that holds the diverter valve to the rear of the pump is different from years following 1968.
            The diverter valve part number is also different from following years.
            Sorry, I'm not home for two more months where all my smog info is, or I could provide all the numbers you need for a 1968 small block.
            If you call Bill Hodel he can certainly give you all the details.

              Yes, the eBay listed pump I linked is dated as you mention. My NOS pump is dated the 256th day of 1968.
