Re: Best wax for black car
Meguires is still tough to beat, in reality it is 90% in application. Try Meguires BLACK WAX paste, you may like that- good on black or red cars brings out the rich color. Small areas at a time and take your time Make sure you use good towels The red Chemical GUYS available on Amazon seems to be the best right now,
Any way you hack it BLACK is a battle to keep right. Good luck

Re: Best wax for black car
Edward,
You’ll likely get numerous recommendations on your inquiry and they’re all probably good ones.
FWIW, I think the subject of car care products is a very opinionated and experiential subject. Accordingly, I’ll chime in with my experiential input. I use the Griots Garage product line exclusively! I’ve been using it on numerous cars over the years and I love it. I’m a shine freak and I get many compliments on all my cars’ appearance.
Recently, I did a compound/polish/seal/wax on a good friend’s BLACK 1950 Chevrolet restomod. It sorely needed attention and after using Griots correcting cream, perfecting cream, finishing sealant, ceramic wax and detail shine spray, the car looks terrific!
The stuff ain’t cheap but I don’t even look at anyone else’s products. Again, others may have differing opinions and those opinions should be considered as well. This is my $0.02.Don Lowe

In my opinion, the best wax is the old Blue Coral Preservative Sealer. However, it's long-since discontinued and a HUGE amount of work to apply properly. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

I know its not black BUT hands down the absolute very best polish I have ever used in over 60 years owning classics. Not sure where to purchase, they were given to me by a professional detailer.IMG_0436.jpgIMG_1183.jpg- Top

That's for sure. I'll bet a lot of the folks on this board never even heard of Blue Coral Preservative Sealer. The GM-sourced product, GM #1050222 was discontinued in 1987 and I expect the otherwise available commercial equivalent was discontinued about the same time.
I think the last time I used it was at least 35 years ago even though I still have a lifetime supply of it. The Blue Coral polish, GM #1052445, which was first applied was pretty easy to use and could be machine buffed. However, the Blue Coral Preservative Sealer (Wax) was a totally different story. This had to be applied and buffed by hand and it was a BEAR. To this day, I remember well the ORDEAL the last time I used it. But what a shine! Incomparable to anything I've used since. Also, very long lasting.
By the way, I never really liked the Blue Coral polish. Instead, I first applied Meguiars No. 7 followed by the Blue Coral Preservative Sealer.
I call using the Blue Coral Preservative Sealer "The Agony and the Ecstasy".In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

I expect that the "yellow" version is a "take-off" on the original Simoniz wax. It was yellow and did a fantastic job. I expect the "blue" version is a "take-off" on the original Blue Coral Preservative Sealer. It was blue and also did a fantastic job as I've previously mentioned. Both of these "old-time" waxes were about equivalent.
The thing I do not understand is the "Easi-Off". Neither the original Simoniz or Blue Coral waxes could ever be described as "easy-off". NEVER. EVER.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
