Ah, Blue Coral. Makes my arms ache just thinking about it.

As the can states 'easy-off' is exactly that. No extensive rubbing to apply and only a wipe and clean using a 2 towel process. BTW: paint was applied 30 years ago still with not one crack or blemish! Bruce

Then, these are not the same as the original Simoniz or Blue Coral even though there may be some implication to that effect.

That's for sure. I'll bet a lot of the folks on this board never even heard of Blue Coral Preservative Sealer. The GM-sourced product, GM #1050222 was discontinued in 1987 and I expect the otherwise available commercial equivalent was discontinued about the same time.

I think the last time I used it was at least 35 years ago even though I still have a lifetime supply of it. The Blue Coral polish, GM #1052445, which was first applied was pretty easy to use and could be machine buffed. However, the Blue Coral Preservative Sealer (Wax) was a totally different story. This had to be applied and buffed by hand and it was a BEAR. To this day, I remember well the ORDEAL the last time I used it. But what a shine! Incomparable to anything I've used since. Also, very long lasting.

By the way, I never really liked the Blue Coral polish. Instead, I first applied Meguiars No. 7 followed by the Blue Coral Preservative Sealer.

I call using the Blue Coral Preservative Sealer "The Agony and the Ecstasy".
Joe, RIGHT you are! About 1967 Tom Bryant, a life long friend on the TDB, his brother and I "helped" a friend Sid Blue his black and black L-79 Nova do his are. It took the four of us half a day to do that car and at the end it was beautiful. I am just grateful Sid's car wasn't an Impala! Back then one of the processes I used on the '57 after the Blue or Classic was to finish off with aircraft glaze. Yep, anyone who ever used Blue will remember it as will their chiropractor!

Think of wax as protection. Its job is to protect the paint from the elements. If the paint is not level (scratch and swirl free) then wax won't make it look it any better. Meguiars came out with a new product in 2023 called Meguiar's Ultimate Insane Shine Paint Glosser. I t's a spray product like a quick detailer. You use it just like a quick detailer, spray it on buff with a microfiber towel. The product fills in the scratches and swirls and leaves behind a finish that looks like you spent all day polishing your car. It provides no protection though. Once you finish with Paint Glosser then use Ultimate Quik Wax on top of the Paint Glosser. This is a spray wax that use just like quick detailer. In 30 minutes you can have an insane swirl free shine that is protected for 6 months with wax. It's new world out there. Meguiar's spent a lot of time developing Paint Glosser. Right now Paint Glosser is available on amazon, Ultimate Quik wax is as well. Hope this helps.

Bruce, I'll second your opinion. Pinnacle Sovereign Paste Wax is my go to. It's great for people who love to wax their own vehicles. I've actually gifted some to Greg Wyatt once. I believe he still uses it. It's great on black. Easy wipe on paste wipe off. Must use microfiber.
                    Take care,
                    Matt Lewis
