Re: Snap ON Model #YA 271 Battery Tester Usage
My suggestion is to ask Restoration Battery directly. They used various brands and chemistry types in those batteries and they would have the correct answer based on serial number on the battery. Short of that (no pun) you might have a warranty issue.67 427/400 Lynndale Blue Corvette https://online.flippingbook.com/view/750924569- Top

Re: Snap ON Model #YA 271 Battery Tester Usage
My digital (non Snap-On) battery tester requires user to input battery type (AGM/lead-acid/etc) and Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) into tester in-order to run the evaluation.
Without first opening up your battery enclosure, and determining just what battery (type/CCA) you have inside, I don't see how you can run an evaluation with any tester.
How old is this Snap-On unit?
If unit is from the "lead-acid" only era, and internally you have a more modern battery type, then seems to me you can't trust any results.

Re: Snap ON Model #YA 271 Battery Tester Usage
place of work every week or so. I do remember it was very expensive but the quality looks very good. If no replies come back
that it is safe to use on smaller restoration batteries I WILL USE CAUTION AND NOT USE IT ON THAT TYPE OF BATTERY.

Re: Snap ON Model #YA 271 Battery Tester Usage
Larry, I'm not sure, but most of these replacement batters cannot withstand a dead short. The very high current can explode the battery - the internal resistance of the battery is high enough to cause overheating. Most rechargeable batteries, other than lead-acid, have their maximum discharge rates specified and they are generally not that high. I would not use it.
