70th Anniversary Display at the National Corvette Museum

th Anniversary is still on. In recent discussions with museum President Sharon Brawner and museum Board Chairman Kai Spande, they have made it clear that the museum remains very interested in recruiting highly-regarded NCRS Corvettes for this display. The plan has changed a bit as NCRS will be working with museum staff to select the cars for the display rather than NCRS having complete control of the display as earlier envisioned.

It is our understanding that at least 50 NCRS members filled out applications to have their Corvettes considered for this display. Unfortunately, we have been unable to obtain copies of those applications. So, if you are still interested in having your car considered for this display (or if you have not previously applied but would like to have your car considered) we ask that you apply for the 70th Anniversary Display at the NCM using the link below. Vito Cimilluca, our newly-appointed Region III Director, will be working with museum staff to review your applications and select the cars for the display.

    Thanks for the updates, Mike.
    I'm one of those fifty.
I'm glad to learn that the display is still on, albeit somewhat modified.

For anyone filling out the online registration form,
it will help to mark the "Insurance Expired" selection as Yes
This will prevent the automated registration from not allowing you to finish and submit.

      Hi Brian,
I'm sorry that you have to reapply, but happy that we were able to get this collaboration with the museum back on track.

        Sounds like an exciting exhibit!

How many cars will be on display? One for each model year?

Is replying that insurance has expired a registration bug that will be fixed?

          Mark,
We expect 2 cars per model year. We are not asking applicants to supply any information about title/registration or insurance as that will all be between the owner and the museum if the car is selected for the display. Some elements of our online registration system are not easily editable for a special situation like this so I expect the answer to your question is that the "bug" will not be fixed.

Very strange you must lie and say your insurance has expired to be able to continue, who designed that?

              Everyone,
Unless the museum has opened up hundreds of square feet more floor space (or a second sinkhole?) in the Skydome,
I believe you'll find that the original display plan included two cars from each generation: i.e. C1, C2, etc for a total of 16.
Granted, 140 cars would be quite a sensational display! Maybe it has indeed been expanded.

I think 2 per MY makes a great display.

Re: 70th Anniversary Display at the National Corvette Museum

The January 6th meeting included info on NCM Display status at that time.
You can find it at 01:16:00 to approximately 01:22:00 in the meeting video.
Nothing I'm hearing indicates there would be two cars per model year.
However, if they now have the capacity to do that, no doubt it'd be fantastic!

As a long-time NCM supporter, this event is a significant step forward for NCRS and its relations with the museum. Glad to see Mike step forward, as well as Vito and continue to see that this works for both organizations. Equally, are those members willing to offer their Corvette for the display. My y2k mil yellow, torch read interior convertible was there for six months during Corvette's 50th Anniversary and have always appreciated that opportunity., It represented year 2000...a single vehicle per year!

Any updates on the 70th anniversary display at the NCM? I submitted an application and haven't seen any further information about being accepted or if the display itself will still take place.
I plan to attend the IndyCar race at Road America the week before and need to set up transportation for my car if it's going to be included.

I actually did send Vito a question, which would really only apply to my own car, some weeks back.
It did occur to me that if general updates could be posted here, we'd all learn identical info at the same time.
Regardless, good luck to all the applicants!
I'm sure there's no shortage of spectacular cars to consider!

Well, poop. Looks like I'm out.
Would love to see a master list of the included cars/owners published here.
There'd have to be some stellar cars included!
Congratulations to all those who were selected!

So it was a joint team of NCRS and NCM people selecting the cars I guess. Who is on the NCRS part of the team?
