    1964 capacitors

Is there a list out there of all of the 64 capacitors and their OHM ratings?

Capacitor values are not expressed in terms of Ohms. They are rated in units of Farads. In particular the capacitors found in autos and used for electrical noise suppression are small and rated in units of microFarads.

If you look in your AIM in section U69 you will find all of the capacitors except for one. The other one is in the alternator and you can see it at the back of the alternator. If I recall correctly the alternator capacitor is 0.5 microfarad.

The AIM has the part numbers for the others. If you google the part numbers you may be able to find the microfarad ratings for all of them. For instance, the capacitor on the turn signal flasher is part number 3839756 and I found a picture of one which was marked .47 MFD

Don't forget the distributor "condenser", which is actually a cap, but the archaic name stuck for the one inside the distributor. From memory it's 0.23 microfarad.

I just looked and found 8 or 9 including the one in the alternator.

There are 3 capacitors on the back of the gauge cluster
1 on the fuse box (turn signal flasher)
            1 on the coil
            1 on the voltage regulator
            1 on the heater blower
            1 on the vent blower

Yep - that's what I found in the AIM. In researching the number on the web, I found all of them to be either .47 MFD or .50 MFD with the exception of the heater blower fan which I am still researching.

If you have access to a Chevrolet radio parts catalog, I believe they will all be listed there. Heater blower motor (condenser) PN is 3833336.

Thanks David. According to the 1964 AIM, the heater blower capacitor PN is 3847975 for the non A/C.
