Hello,
Does the brake anchor bolt that secures the backing plate to the caliper mount bracket require a lock washer? There is an odd shaped plate with two internal teeth that slips over the support that the anchor bolt slips through, however, the bolt does not firmly secure this plate against the backing plate because of the height of the shoulder of the support. When fully torqued, the odd shaped plate is loose which causes me to wonder if a lock washer is required here. There was no lock washer present when the trailing arms were taken apart to be rebuilt. I'm assuming that the ears on this odd shaped plate are bent up and against the bolt after it is fully torqued in place to keep it secure but the plates that came off of my assemblies have never been bent. I cannot find any references to a lock washer being placed here but I'm wondering if one is required regardless. Any input from members would be most appreciated. Thank you.
Joe
