    1963 headlight switch

The dimmer function on my 1963 095 switch just failed. Was working fine, then nothing. I'll remove it and clean everything with acetone, ( the rheostat ), then reinstall.

    Anything else I can do?

    Thanks

Harry, The rheostat likely broke open just after the rivet.

You can clean the broken piece and use silver solder to reattach it to the rivet.

When you get it out take it apart and take a few photos of the rheostat.

Thanks, I'll pull it when I get back from Tucson and post pictures, if the temperature in my garage gets above 50 degrees.

I have an NOS 095 sitting in a box ready to install.

When I turn it to full-on, that function works.

Rich, finally got to work on the switch today. I decided to try it again before I pulled it apart.

All worked fine? I am at a loss? I'll leave it alone for now.

Harry, It could have been a bit of carbon on the rheostat or the contactor and it cleaned itself up.

Before, did the dash lamps work full bright(knob full CCW)? If not, the INSTR fuse clips may be corroded and intermittent.

EDIT...Ignore last question, I reread your earlier post and that works.

            Time will tell I guess.
