    1965 headlamp install

What, if any, lubricant was used on the pivot assemblies for mid-year headlamp buckets? Would silicone grease be a satisfactory lubricant today?

John - I have no clue as to what the factory used...or didn't use...on midyear headlight pivots but I've used silicone grease and pretty sure I also used Lubriplate #105, the engine assembly grease and no problems. Not a lot used, by the way, just a light wipe.

The factory used engine oil to lubricate the bearings. This was applied to the felt seal. Upon rebuilding many over the years, I also used a bit of grease on the pivot shafts/bearings, along with re-oiling the new felt seals.
